FlorisTree Pencil Set - Woodland & Wildflowers In A Pencil!

£ 11.99

You know that myself and my family and my business partners are all outdoor people who love the land, and one of things we chatted about was how we can turn things on their head and make things that help the environment within our own worlds and together with Fiona we have worked so had to bring you Floristree, a meadow in a box! We know everyone uses pencils, from school kids to artists, to everyday jotting at home and work ! Well every pencil comes from a tree right? Well what if we could feel great about using a pencil and when its finished we could plant it as a tree again! Well now you can with the Floristree pencil set. And not only does the box contain 5 beautifully made wooden pencils with native to the UK silver birch tree seeds in each capsule, but we wanted to also put in the box your very own wildflower meadow too! So when the time is right you can create a small meadow and grow new trees to boot! Now that made me feel good and I hope it will make a perfect gift for somebody too!  All packaged in a 100% recyclable gift box.

Our wildflower mix in the capsule contains five native British annual wildflower species to create 'instant' colour and can be used to enrich existing grassland or provide additional first year colour to other wildflower meadows. The species included in this mixture create an attractive display from May to October and are selected for being fast growing, attractive and easy to establish.

The seed mic includes Chamomile,  Corn Cockle, Cornflower, Marigold, Corn Chrysanthemum Poppy,

Our wildflower mix supports bees, butterflies and other pollinators as it contains 100% of species recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) as ‘Perfect for Pollinators’. Wildflower Seed Mix performs well in most soil types.

NOTE WELL : The soil and seed filled ends of the pencils are fragile by nature so they can easily released when the time comes so please when using pencil be aware you have a new tree whose life is in your hands ! The capsule is water soluble so don't get wet (or you may have a baby tree bouncing round your room!)

Instructions for sowing wildflowers : For best results sow into bare soil after clearing all existing plants and weeds from the area. Can be sown in March or November. Spring and autumn provide ideal conditions as moisture and warmth are in good supply.

Instructions for planting tree pencils : You can simply when finished with the pencil lay down in the soil and gently cover . But for best results place the pencils in the bottom of a fridge (not the freezer!)  for 4 weeks at low temperatures for moist birch seed improves the speed and evenness of germination. Sowing -  Silver birch is a fast-growing tree and can be sown later in the year and still produce good growth in one season. Aim to plant during  the month of April . Please only cover the capsule with only 1-2mm coarse horticultural sand or grit. It is important that you do not cover the seed  too thickly as this could prevent germination. Watering - Please do not let your seeds dry out!  Place them of possible them in a shady spot outside. Keep moist at all times. Following pretreatment in the fridge, silver birch seeds should germinate rapidly!

The Silver Birch Tree - (Betula Pendula) Pretty, pale, a symbol of purity. This common tree, with its silver-white bark, is favoured by gardeners who want to renew and purify their land for coming year. Silver birches are among the best trees for small gardens since they never produce too dense a canopy and their root systems are unlikely to shift foundations. That said, always make sure they are planted at least 30 feet from the house, though many people plant nearer.

NOTE We only ship these seeds in the UK as the seeds are native to this country and we cannot ship elsewhere.
