Finish & rusting process
Our steel sculptures are designed to develop a natural rusted finish over time. They are supplied in bare steel, giving you the choice to paint, seal or allow the piece to weather naturally.
For the classic rustic finish shown in the image, simply place the sign outside in the garden. Rust will usually begin forming within a week or so, depending on the weather. You can speed up the process by spraying the surface with water every few days, or by applying a diluted mixture of 1 part household vinegar to 20 parts water.
The rust forms on the surface of the steel and helps create the traditional aged garden-art look. It is great fun to watch your personalised saw sign transform into a rustic feature piece.
Keeping it unrusted
If you would prefer to keep your sign in its bare steel, unrusted state, it must be sealed with a suitable protective coating or kept in a very dry indoor location.

We aim to have most of our dispatched within 5-7 working days, but due to the nature of some of our products being made to order and also being hand made by craftspeople it can sometimes take a few days more on certain items. Please note on all pebbles and slate items the turn around time is 10-14 days.

Although hand making something may take that extra day or two longer than buying something imported and sitting in a warehouse we feel the quality and uniqueness of the product will far outweigh that extra couple of sleeps!
