How the rusted finish develops
This steel hedgehog garden ornament arrives in its bare, un-rusted state. Place it outside in normal British weather and a rustic surface patina will begin to form, helping it blend naturally among shrubs, flowers and borders.
To speed up the rusting process, lightly spray the surface with water every few days, or apply a diluted mixture of 1 part household vinegar to 20 parts water.
Can I keep the steel finish instead of letting it rust?
Yes. If you prefer to keep the sculpture in its un-rusted steel state, apply a suitable sealant, protective spray or matt lacquer before outdoor use, or keep it in a very dry indoor location.

We aim to have most of our dispatched within 5-7 working days, but due to the nature of some of our products being made to order and also being hand made by craftspeople it can sometimes take a few days more on certain items.
